- Completed an inspection of unit 3 with Lt Bates. Lt Bates found numerous fire safety violations. The unit was created without proper permits and is in a building that has a variance to allow it to have 2 living areas, not 3. We spoke to the PO. Lt Bates outlined what the PO needed to do and gave 30 days for the unit to be vacated. I instructed the PO that they need to get a variance to allow for 3 units. Depending if they applied for a variance and are approved they will need a permit to bring the unit up to code and have constructed legally. If the are denied a variance or determine not to pursue a variance they will need a permit for demolition and for anything they may wish to keep in the area, such as the bathroom. They have 30 days to apply for the variance or for a demolition permit.

- Reviewed property file after speaking with tenant. Tenant stated that they where in unit 3 of 3 units in the building. The property has a variance to allow a 2nd unit. Going to talk to John on Monday and schedule a time to go out to property to inspect. Will need to reach out property owner as well.
